Decklist: Commander Grenzo

I don't know about anyone else, but Grenzo, Dungeon Warden makes my inner Johnny squeal with glee. Let's see how we can best utilize this guy's potential.

Firstly, we're going to assume that he's our commander so that we can rely on his ability to drive the deck. Scrying is an excellent way to make sure that he's active, and there are a few other cards we can use that stack the bottom of the library.

Now that we've got ways to set our commander up, what do we do with him?

Let's keep in mind: he can only dig up creatures with power no greater than his. There are a two ways to tackle this boundary; we either up his power (which we can do organically by paying more for him, or by including some pumps), or we can focus on weaker creatures.

One thing I like about the "weaker creatures" approach is that we can cheat the system a little bit. A lot of decklists online will run a Goblin build (you'll notice most of them have power two or less), but I wanted to stray away from building yet another Goblin deck with a new commander.

What you'll find below is a decklist that uses the Arcbound cycle (and a few more 0-power artifact creatures) to get some momentum going. Almost all the creatures in the deck have power 2 or less, so Grenzo can start pulling guys out as soon as turn three. It's also creature-heavy to make sure that Grenzo gets more hits than misses.

I've included a good number of sacrifice outlets to make use of their Modular ability, as well as the "enter the battlefield" triggers on some other creatures. We're not afraid to see our creatures die, as any "dig" ability will let us get them back right away.

There's some tech at work here: what little non-creature cards are included are there to fetch the cards Grenzo will dump into the graveyard without reanimating them, or just provide a little extra punch (in the form of the graveyard-accessible Devil's Play for example). There's also a light artifact infrastructure seeing as we're running a sizable amount of artifacts.

I've yet to take this deck for a spin, but I think it'll turn out to be versatile enough to be able to bounce back from a good number of situations. Post your homebrews or modifications in the comments.
